Cliburn Takes Cotton Pickin’ 100 Thriller!

The $15,000 to win Super Late Model event saw front row starter Jason Cliburn survive an early race battery change and almost going a lap down at the midpoint of the event to come back and pass Chris Wall on lap 98 as Wall slipped out of the rubber on the bottom groove to. Cliburn went on to earn the biggest win of his career in what has been a break out season for the Star, Mississippi racer.

Wall posted another excellent run with a second place finish after leading many laps in the latter stages of the event and defending champion Billy Drake fought his way from the rear of the field to finish third in the drama filled 100 lap affair.

Rodney Wing of Meridian, MS took the $3,000 to win Open Wheel Modified championship as he walked away from the field. Jackson area racer Tony Henry did the same as Wing as Henry earned $2,000 in a dominating win. Jo Jo Reeves from the Meridian area took the $1,000 to win Street Stock championship to conclude the weekend’s events.
